At RG’s Kabab Mahal in Sea Point you discover
the finer nuances of the bygone era through the extensive display of curry dishes
ranging from various styles of cooking from different regions of India. The dining
concept at RG’s Kabab Mahal is unique in terms of its simplicity, yet mysterious
as the mystic aroma of its delightful kababs and curries.
The welcome at the door is as warm and inviting as the fragrant aroma of spices that
envelope you when you enter this intimate restaurant situated in Main Road Sea Point.
The interior is decorated with exotic Indian art and Oriental carpets in the traditional,
rich colours of India. The buffet tables boast burnished copper domes with lids,
which once lifted, display a rich and beautiful selection of curries and exotic stews,
prepared with imported Indian spices and herbs.
Diners can choose between the extensive
a la carte menu or the unlimited serving of soups, kababs, curries, salads and desserts
during lunch and dinner. Two options are available, the first being the Maharaja
Menu – 5 course delights or alternatively, the Maharani Menu – 4 course delights.
The buffet offers fish, chicken or lamb for non-vegetarians. While eggplant, lentils
and other vegetarian dishes balance out the selection. Chef Ranjit Mehra demonstrate
his superb skills through delicately blending spices with a generous portion of garlic
and chilli to create the rich, warm, but not too hot, curry of RG’s Kabab Mahal.
